Hybris toma su título del término griego que nombra la desmesura. Los mitos la representan bajo formas diversas —deseo de poder, orgullo, ambición o dominio— y muestran la lógica de su derrumbe. Cuando algo rebasa su medida, arrastra consigo la caída.
Sobre fondos pintados al óleo inspirados en la tradición clásica, animales, flores, restos y cuerpos humanos fragmentados se disponen en escenas entre el bodegón y el paisaje. El desmembramiento introduce la pérdida de unidad.
El proyecto recupera el mito para pensar el presente. La desmesura aparece en el deseo, el poder, la ambición y la voluntad de control, y también en su reverso: nuestra fragilidad y nuestro absurdo.
Hybris takes its title from the Greek term for exceeding one’s measure or limits. In myth, it appears in different forms — the desire for power, pride, ambition or domination — and reveals the logic of its collapse. When something exceeds its measure, it carries its fall with it.
Against oil-painted backdrops inspired by the classical tradition, animals, flowers, remains and fragmented human bodies are arranged in scenes between still life and landscape. Dismemberment introduces a loss of unity.
The project returns to myth as a way of thinking about the present. Hybris appears in desire, power, ambition and the will to control, and also in their reverse: our fragility and our absurdity.
